Back on topic...I would have liked henchies too, but I don't mind really, just gonna do something else.

And for those that think henchies can't do it...it was thought about TopK also, and I think there were a few people that did it with henchies.
I don't even care if it were impossible...just would have liked to try get as far as possible

ANet doesn't like people playing with henchmen, because they believe the key to having people stay on in the Guildwars world is to get them to socialize and get friends among the Guildwars players.

Hence they don't allow henching in "exclusive" areas. Wrt Urgoz and Deep, they're apparently also designed specifically to make botting - and hence also henching - impossible, by demanding the team to split up and/or use necrotic traversal and rebirth to bypass obstacles.

So the proximate reason is that henches wouldn't work in the Deep or Urgoz (but probably would in FoW and UW), and the ultimate reason is that ANet wants you to play with humans.

Their reasoning is flawed, though. What banning henches actually achieves is that people like me, who want to play missions in their own pace, not run through them with farmer John who's done it 50 times before, simply don't do the missions at all.

I think this issue is a little late to be talking about. Factions was released over 3 months ago. If there really was a problem here then I think someone would have posted about it at least in the first month of the game.

But then again, most of the people that did the elite missions in the first month were either farmers, or experienced players. They would have obviously realize why there are no henchmen almost right away, or just did the mission once with a PUG and could see why henchmen would just not work.

Yeah, well, demanding the team to split, or demanding that it suicide or use necrotic traversal & rebirth to get past obstacles, will definitely make henching impossible.

Other than that, I'm not at all convinced it's too hard. ToTPK has been henched, although I haven't myself, I've personally henched all missions + all bonuses in Tyria and all missions (but not all Masters) in Cantha, plus all quests in Sorrows/Grenths. I've soloed in FoW and UW, and I haven't seen anything I don't think I couldn't hench if ANet would let me try.

What ABOUT socializing? I've got RL friends, I play games to amuse myself, relax and kick back. There's no relaxing or kicking back in a PUG.
